opera browser

lichess once was a nice simpel website...
Installing a free browser (or try Anon solution) is the only thing I'll ask from you to play lichess.

If you decide it's not worth it, farewell, mate
Your favorite browser must be a vulnerable, outdated piece of crap.

One of those expensive home-made browsers that people pay to slow everything down and infect it.
I used Opera from version 9 through 12.60, and I still come back to it sometimes.

I'm pretty sure it works. From my experience it just disconnected a lot more often than SRWare Iron (Chromium) does, but I haven't used Opera for Lichess since the rewrite in Scala, so I can't comment
on that. I thought Scala was just the back-end though, so I'm not sure if compatibility was affected.

I think the bad rap Opera gets is unfair, as it's still a very fine browsers and the company has done wonders for an open web, despite the browser not being open source (Opera Dragonfly is though).
And let's not forget there are several Linux distributions.

Anyway, I hope thibault is not intentionally blocking Opera just for the sake of "free software" (a silly term, IMO, and an ideology propagated by unpragmatic people). Blocking access to the site
purely based on browsers won't earn any webmaster any favours. I'm not saying you should actively support it, but it would be wrong to block users of the browser just because you don't like it.
Oh I certainly don't block anything on purpose. For Opera, did you try that this tip some guy gave?

"One can activate Operas websocket support via opera:config#UserPrefs|EnableWebSockets (don't forget to save your changes (at the bottom of the page) and then restart opera)." -- Anon

I'm interested in knowing if it works
i really don't think that's the reason. if i remember correctly, webstacks (or something like that), which are the browser-compatibility-problem, make the connection better. or faster. idk. anyways,
they're cool. don't diss on them.

it's a pity some browsers don't support them yet, but the majority does (latest versions of opera, chrome, safari, firefox).

i agree on the whole thing of unpragmatic people being bad. i don't think that's the case here, though.

cheers.
By the way I know everybody cannot use the latest browsers. Like people (used to) play lichess from cybers. They cannot upgrade the browser there.
Sorry, mates! I'm too impatient!
Anons fix works fine for Opera, put it up on the main page so people see it when they try to play.
