(make new thread with this post, was a popup distraction today, but a wanted thing from before, now that AI unicorns get demystified back into human tools (positive thinking). idea here. is to make chess videos interactive and workable by me, toward grinding them into thematic studies without all the stream duration. As I like to stare at positoins more than listen to a one mind one pace lecture with no hope of Q and A when inevitable enthousiastic question arise in mind (and not about turn by turn questions, in general about how does it apply elsewhere, or what else could this lead to, do I find theories of my own given my current learned sprawl extent (tyring synonyms from iteration to iteration, that way, no terminology sclerosis temptation, and venn diagram in readers might end up spiral to what I am meaning..) from what I can see in front of me. Not the inexorable flow of narration choice of items to deliver, without me even asking anything.. Yes, that bad. How did I survive in school and academia? I think imagination is double edge thing. it can fill in the blanks too... on the good side.

Underlying book, that is ulterior to Soltis pioneering one, but more compatible with my past academic formations, in mathematically oriented sciences, but it might be just how I am wired.
I seem to work better with abstraction hypotheses that effectively allow to generalize better outside of the abstraction minimal set of supporting or illustrating examples. voire, exemplars. The more asbtract yet sufficient specific exemplar the more efficacious chunk of learning being experienced (including reading on it). It is not mathematics. But it makes use of visual structuring of the text medium. vertical space, and font aspect. unfortunately for some well intended reason, it has chosen figurine notation, with its lack of visual discrimination at a glance, at the character level (not about SAN iteslf being a code for a 2D diagram visual object).
but the point is that the thing being shared is not knoweldge catalog, but a relational structure based on chess board logic within. Since it is a GM sharing, that underlying is for me not knowledge, but guided experience to come , as I can understand the emerging non-turn by turn logic, more naturally for its associative presentation in the first place.

Discussion.
This is not like being taught a ROT and getting to some chess rating plateau, hitting bumps of exceptions that non-cooperative opponents, as one gets paired with stronger player, might annoyingly be testing. And then, one is being taught that there are "exceptions" to the monolithic previous half truth telling them do this in that order (phase view of game, 3 bins, that is the extend of the dependent variable being shared). This is being taught the association between a dependent variable information (the PS abstracted configuration over the whole board), and a set of possible middlegame and further plan ideas for either side. And those ideas are themselves presented and make sense from board logic without having to first having done many games. For some reason, the pawn structures and my current state of learnedness (familiriarity density over the position space as domain, the support of it, i.e. the blog where it is not zero still), are enough for me to see the thing being shared to be already logical enough so that I can reason there as a potential map of the mess of long lines that typical approach line by line presents as equally distant enumeratoin of chess lines. Forward moving, and dumping truths, but no look from "above" the turn by turn. I prefer wasting my time, by figuring out the turn by turn by myself (or someone but not the book). The author could have done the usual and dispersed all that logical efficient abstraction that makes sense to me, through a corridoer of games from 0 to end of game.. one after the other, with injection of the content trhough it, and following the one single line of turn by turn moves, as obligatory gate to the more abstract and better presented as such above before the example.
Do not get stuck in the turn by turn game analysis just on one example.. see below, for a natural reaction from the usual tradition of chess learning theory, based on turn by turn expertise delivery of truth by the move:

some might be irrelevant some might be missing.. to be continued. I also have links to pdf versions that are exactly searchable (not scanned apparently). I own the book, but it is not searchable. and given the spirit of the book, I think it is intended to be so searchable. I am using a pdf software where I can bookmark at will. beyond the existing ones under many angles of study and needs. as trace of my past visits. (I work in small chunks, long story).
The book is nice to consult once I know what is in it. but the full searchablity of the pdf, and the boomarking allow further interactive question based and theme based digestion project of the book.
With jomega as the rock solid instigator and partner in discovery discussion of that book. not meant to be read linearly (I hope this is already clear.. in my ramblings).
It seems that the book offer that is compatible with my learning abliities X limitations, is rather small. on top of that list is FLORES, and PSS. I invite many people passing, to try not to demand seeing a real position, and consider board with only pawns present, and only imagine ghost pieces around.. make your imagintion explore itself with only those tangible real sensory signals, the world of the possible around them. the flies that buzz around.. well. got too far there.. maybe. think of the differential speeds. highway.. 200km/h for the non-(pawn or king) and 100km/h for the king and pawns.
they both have some "projected" in their own layers respective dynamics.. Sure they interact also board-logically, but having such a 2 time scale separation, seem to help me, at this point of my chess life.
It made me reconsider my lack of ambition about openings, as finally a real theory that can act as organizing principle so I don't have to waste time in the naming or anatomy of the tree branches of the knowledge database, I can keep looking at chess from the position at any of those point and use a different grid of reference. That grid being itself rational, and self-associatoin by enough board logic to my taste (ablities, logic, intuition, and imagination).

In some ways the pawn game is more aking to a shogi game.. clockwork... yet.. it is in the non-pawn space that the other game is happening.. kind of. it was the "hidden laws" formulation variation on "secret". The laws too.
I guess I was also curious that it might be about emergent board logic in some way, which is not active secrecy but just needs to be done if as a group we want to gain useful knowledge beyond just improving our win rates or individual performance. While there is no necessity that a more mechanistic knowledge or theory of chess be in conflict with individual improvement through tournament/rated repeated experience, the dosage and impatience might leave the other never really be subjected to full power of group of inidividual going scientific on it. It will keep sailing even if corners are left hanging in some fog.
So laws, is kind of bold in my "world" of shades of theories, from physics to less obvious theory building methods types of sciences. In physics and its language for knowledge gain bathed in mathematics (some of them) in equal dosage with empircial information, using techonology itself enable by the mathematical infrasturture for the theory/experiment ratchet at many small head level, that we call science, research and or development (to make the experiemental designs that will keep the physics science ratchet, or wheel of science going).
I was hearing some possibility of "emergent laws". indicating some assumed acceptation that there is a finite set of absollute rules or laws (words.... sigh), and that it might not be enough, only the part we come equally equipped with in the single game of competition, a game of reasonning from equally not-hidden information.
Because sometimes we need more words to start figuring out the parts under the hood that might be helpful, if only we had the words to figure that out, more than one head a time. A book being an attempt at putting more than one head on the task. If that were visible in our conversation, it might start a more sciency process. That a book is a form of thesis. That chess being big, doubtful that one book would be definitive truth, and need not critical review from reasoning abled bodies (game of reasoning anyone, on common sensory information, extending to communicated information), or coutner points, or further discussion. I know the book comes out first and discussion later, might not be the most many heads method of science ratchet out there. but that is what we have.. slow cycle it might be. There are many reasons why a science might not be able to have such a tight boat as physics, with respect to the synergy between imagination and gain of knowledge using theory and empircal common sensory evidence testing wheel.
Unfortunately, my obvious irritation at this state of affair has gotten me wondering why in chess. In other sciences it might be the common sensory techonology available, not the conceptual tools to create theories or emergent mechanistic hypotheses, that can't support a "rapid" and logically tight ecosystem dynamics between theories and data.
Or data keeps pouring in faster than understanding of it can be even communicated as hypotheses. And gets to be itself rewarding each individual lifetime carreers. Until.. it gets around that there is too much data.. and that data does not make science at some point. As we are not trying to just tally the universe (of the science expected goals at consensus community of researchers level, or accept scope of questions to ask or find communicable answers to, so that we can keep advancing).
So, the word theory for me is about shared understanding of common sensory accessible data. Science experts, among themselves, do not leave or be satisfied with writing reports that are not self contained for some expect common specialized language readers to need to have been themselves having done the experiments and have been literally in the writer subjective head, in order to have the communicaino via the writing be efficient and accessible to peer review.
One expert reviewing such paper, would not invoke own expertise or nobel prize title, as an argument toward accepting the paper or not.. or the content of it as own science.
the commonality is in some ambient languages givens, and models under testing as presented in the writing. The reader expects some basic common method of presentation that focused on the novely of the reasearch thing being reported.
not in past social recognition rewards sealing some social at large credibility, say in general news diffusion of scientific knowledge, that is the tip of the iceberg of the scientific method, it ain't really science anymore. not its method.
the report is intended to be self contained about its incremental contribution to a well pinpointed corpus of referred pervious "reports" of same community or appropriate orbitting sources of science reporting. sometimes one can't stick within same pool of specialization to figure out good questions and answerable in part within the research scope object of the report (note that one report does not make a reasearch thread, or question, I won't get lost further here).
so . now lost stamina.. (or something is sucking my high level attention away from expressing more).. but I think I have sufficiently given ambient thinking of mine for my interest, perhaps too wishful, but I must have some hope myself and chess understanding pursuit by any means I can muster efficiently (not being capricious, being realistic about my abilities and limitations). I know increasingly what helps me.
I might be chess learner, but I would say, on the self-observation lifelong research project, I have spent a non-negligeable portion of my struggling past, the more one bumps in their life path journey, I guess the more one has to figure out if the path is contributing, or if the perception of it, or the bump, and own hopes to progress (as in keeping going sustainably, I don't want to be too specific, also it makes me more clinical).. edit: finishing overwritten typing buffer....:) : I might be .... , but ..... , I have ... gotten quite expert at knowing what I can hope to do, and what I can't, as I get fast reminders (maybe I can be oblivious to that for a day, but then day after, well not anymore), so I would say I might be an expert of my dynamics with ignorance and new information that I am curious about finding.. information can be understanding of how some information mechanistically relates to other. I might actually retain this aspect of the relation between chunks, that the chunks themselves (working theory, of long term associative memory compensation for inadequate working memory juggling act, capacity in static or dynamic, interference? bad gating from long term memory dynamics (which is not part of the explicit models I read about, but it was wikipedia level, not expert level sensory experience of the field). So, I have been developpîng a model of self learning "dynamics".. working changing as I get to learn more about chess and thinking about chess, and test my ways.. past five years.
wrong editin point above: missing. that the thing to figure out from repeated life level objectifve failures (not as a person worthy of pursuing hopes in foresight imagination. or self-esteem, that has been surgically removed from equation, through also hard past work on self, but finding living projections of self in spite of the reduced range of choices, or as I like to say, reduced universe of self future opportunities under own influence. (well i just had to verbalize more now, as universe can be vague). So was it how inadequate my givens are to what is left of my future possibilities, or is it just badluck or (of?) previous choices unforeseeable consequences (sound like chess, maybe). At some point the fooling oneself becomes a target of intellectural and honest to self pursuit as its own research project. I might as well use my strenghts before giving up on life, no.. or whatever I was facing that was looking like failure and repeption as the normal expectation. One can't really live without hope of something better, when in the failure irreversible context, or so is the question.
So that part, I can say having had enough failures, but also enough perceivable, subjectively and with environment confirmation (the others, but a good amount of intrisic, that is the beauty of physics and math., in theory, that it is an autonomous reasoing based discpline. The expertise, does not come from knowledge or data itself, but how that is being processed, and sought further to fuel the autonomous method of digestion, that can be taught without having to experience the data acquisition oneself.

it was the "hidden laws" formulation variation on "secret". The laws too.
I guess I was also curious that it might be about emergent board logic in some way, which is not active secrecy but just needs to be done if as a group we want to gain useful knowledge beyond just improving our win rates or individual performance. While there is no necessity that a more mechanistic knowledge or theory of chess be in conflict with individual improvement through tournament/rated repeated experience, the dosage and impatience might leave the other never really be subjected to full power of group of inidividual going scientific on it. It will keep sailing even if corners are left hanging in some fog.
So laws, is kind of bold in my "world" of shades of theories, from physics to less obvious theory building methods types of sciences. In physics and its language for knowledge gain bathed in mathematics (some of them) in equal dosage with empircial information, using techonology itself enable by the mathematical infrasturture for the theory/experiment ratchet at many small head level, that we call science, research and or development (to make the experiemental designs that will keep the physics science ratchet, or wheel of science going).
I was hearing some possibility of "emergent laws". indicating some assumed acceptation that there is a finite set of absollute rules or laws (words.... sigh), and that it might not be enough, only the part we come equally equipped with in the single game of competition, a game of reasonning from equally not-hidden information.
Because sometimes we need more words to start figuring out the parts under the hood that might be helpful, if only we had the words to figure that out, more than one head a time. A book being an attempt at putting more than one head on the task. If that were visible in our conversation, it might start a more sciency process. That a book is a form of thesis. That chess being big, doubtful that one book would be definitive truth, and need not critical review from reasoning abled bodies (game of reasoning anyone, on common sensory information, extending to communicated information), or coutner points, or further discussion. I know the book comes out first and discussion later, might not be the most many heads method of science ratchet out there. but that is what we have.. slow cycle it might be. There are many reasons why a science might not be able to have such a tight boat as physics, with respect to the synergy between imagination and gain of knowledge using theory and empircal common sensory evidence testing wheel.
Unfortunately, my obvious irritation at this state of affair has gotten me wondering why in chess. In other sciences it might be the common sensory techonology available, not the conceptual tools to create theories or emergent mechanistic hypotheses, that can't support a "rapid" and logically tight ecosystem dynamics between theories and data.
Or data keeps pouring in faster than understanding of it can be even communicated as hypotheses. And gets to be itself rewarding each individual lifetime carreers. Until.. it gets around that there is too much data.. and that data does not make science at some point. As we are not trying to just tally the universe (of the science expected goals at consensus community of researchers level, or accept scope of questions to ask or find communicable answers to, so that we can keep advancing).
So, the word theory for me is about shared understanding of common sensory accessible data. Science experts, among themselves, do not leave or be satisfied with writing reports that are not self contained for some expect common specialized language readers to need to have been themselves having done the experiments and have been literally in the writer subjective head, in order to have the communicaino via the writing be efficient and accessible to peer review.
One expert reviewing such paper, would not invoke own expertise or nobel prize title, as an argument toward accepting the paper or not.. or the content of it as own science.
the commonality is in some ambient languages givens, and models under testing as presented in the writing. The reader expects some basic common method of presentation that focused on the novely of the reasearch thing being reported.
not in past social recognition rewards sealing some social at large credibility, say in general news diffusion of scientific knowledge, that is the tip of the iceberg of the scientific method, it ain't really science anymore. not its method.
the report is intended to be self contained about its incremental contribution to a well pinpointed corpus of referred pervious "reports" of same community or appropriate orbitting sources of science reporting. sometimes one can't stick within same pool of specialization to figure out good questions and answerable in part within the research scope object of the report (note that one report does not make a reasearch thread, or question, I won't get lost further here).
so . now lost stamina.. (or something is sucking my high level attention away from expressing more).. but I think I have sufficiently given ambient thinking of mine for my interest, perhaps too wishful, but I must have some hope myself and chess understanding pursuit by any means I can muster efficiently (not being capricious, being realistic about my abilities and limitations). I know increasingly what helps me.

Keyword: Pawn Structure (dunno about mastering keyword, I do like still the variation of the theme that "hidden laws" is shoving in my court jester chorus section, in minds' ears.
Edit: well.. no kindle thing. only paper back over there.. Let's hope it is not another single stream of games, and buried hidden laws being carefully encoded in some of the worst visual signal ever, figurine notation SAN, the worst of all possible worlds of efficient teaching/learning/reading communication habit. Let's hope it is bulding on Flores organisation effort. And does the clear abstraction map first and then examples later, more robust to human cognitive style trait distribution. For the interactive, imaginative, question driven among us, possibly more curious about the laws efficient mechanical hypotheses of board condition to plan idea consequences (or probabilistic value) in the whole thinking (while learning too, or vice-versa), (edit:) THAN the win rate of the presentation take home imitation value.
I have high hope given the title imagination made manifest. If I am not reading more smiling into it than intended, in which case, plan B, I keep the fun for myself, anyway.
