Miniature Chess Board during games

Would a mini chess set below the time and move box be helpful for keeping track of lost pieces?

Like a set of pieces in normal position and whenever taken/killed/eaten, an "X" goes through that piece.
Chess pieces as cannibals munching up the enemy.

This has already been improved and I think the current way is sufficient, but I like that you call taken pieces "eaten".
In the past, it showed every single piece that had been taken, on both sides of the board. To make the material loss more efficient and easier to immediately determine, a new system was invented that shows only the material difference, rather than the clutter of every pawn and piece taken obscuring any immediacy in knowing the true material balance.

To add something like a board that shows all the pieces that have been taken would not only be reverting back to the old system (where every piece taken is shown) but it would add an extra layer of complication via the board itself.
